I totally get what you're doing, Marco.
Awesome you're developing this with this attitude, whatever time it takes, we all win in the end that way.

Those cars look sexy fast, Marco.
Keep it up! I've been burned as an early adopter on some other stuff, so I usually wait for real-world users to report back before buying stuff- but this sure is exciting! _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. Awaome thread! I’m excited to see upcoming innovations.
I myself have been playing with a turbo on the wbx.
Granted it was more of an experiment, I figured these engines could handle more power, and indeed they can.
My 85 1.9 with many miles on it put down 135 whp with 8lbs boost. It sure helps to fill in the gaps if you know what I’m saying

That looks great👍🏼, I have the turbo in the same location in the kit. Im using a charge cooler rather than a intercooler, but nicely done. |

Technically speaking a charge cooler is a cooler that cools the intake charge between a single charging device (turbo or supercharger) and the intake ports regardless of whether it is air to air or air to water. An intercooler is a cooler that cools the intake air between two charging devices such as between a supercharger and a turbo or between stages of a compound turbo setup and again, that is regardless of whether that is air to air or air to water. That is the technically correct nomenclature.
Colloquially though, the technical terms are misused more than they are used correctly both in the US and in Europe. To add to the confusion, they are misused differently depending on where you are. Here in the US, both air to air coolers and air to water coolers are called intercoolers regardless of whether they are on an engine with single or multiple charging devices. On the other side of the pond, it is my understanding that y'all refer to air to water coolers as 'charge coolers' and air to air coolers as 'intercoolers'. The cooling medium is not what correctly differentiates them. Meh, no one is right...
I bring all of this up just to say that unless you have more than one charging device both of you are using charge coolers, not intercoolers.
