Hi, Had Porsche 993 (95-9 seats and now Porsche 911 sport seats out of an 1994 and less 911. 944, 928 seats will fit also.
We can eat facing each other up front.
Only thing I can't do is get the table between both seats when they are in "driving" position.

I was very happy to discover that I don't miss arm rests.
The much-improved support of the Corbeau seats greatly reduces fatigue and the side bolsters do offer some arm support.
I actually prefer these seats without arm rests as I don't have to move them out of the way, and it's nice to have a wider aisle to move to the back of the van.
YMMV of course! |
Do the Corbeau's have an adjustment knob for the backrest like the Eurovan or just a lever like the Vanagon seats?
Cheers,

time to go spend an hour or two in a junk yard.
find something you are comfortable sitting in, then pull it out to see if you can make it fit.
i bought peugeot 306 seats in england, an ebay auction i got the pair for the opening bid of £1
the were very easy to make fit.
i purposely bought seats from a 2 door car, so when i was in the back of the van, i could tip the seats way far forward easily to maximize the space, i only had a passenger swivel seat, i used 5/16 steel plate, drilled and tapped, it was thicker than 8mm nuts, so i figured that would be fine, and the seats were lower than the stock seats anyway, so i could have used thicker steel.
i'd go looking for something low and either european,or japanese. _________________ lucy our westy

I'd be curious if there are any options that allow the seat to go back a little further. Even an inch or two would make all the difference. Porsche seats have got to be cheaper than knee replacements. |

no good on a westy, unless you cut down the sink.
i'm not tall, but i have my seat touching the sink closet, without cutting it down, there's no way of making the seat go further back.
the closet where the rear table leg is, maybe that one could be cut down, to allow the whole of the bigger closet to move further back.

I would think that if you are modifying a non Vanagon seat to fit the Vanagon seat tracks, it would be an easy task to mount them in such a way that increased rearward sliding would happen.

I was thinking maybe there might be options with a thinner seat back, which could be placed further back without moving anything. Probably wishful thinking. |

Are you sure? You have the Weekender (aka basic camper) and since it does not have swivel seats, I would think that the seats are the same as the standard Vaangon. (I should know this since I have the same model - but alas, I cannot say such with 100% certainty). _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

Mine is replaced with a Toyota MPV seats, arm rest included.
I highly recommend arm rest for a long distance travel.
I have used Van’s OE railings, this gave me the advantage of original seat height.

The backs of the Recaros seem thinner than stock. Do taller drivers get any extra leg room? I sure miss the leg room i lost when going to a full camper. |

I know Brad put 2nd row Honda Odyssey seats up front in Drive Nacho Drive.
I have a set (currently in my '06 odyssey) that will eventually end up in a vanagon. Reclining, arm rests, leather, low-ish profile. _________________ '86 x-1wd, now w/ 2wd! Wolfsburg Weekender

Nothing special here, but thought I would add another seat swap to this thread.
These are seats from a 2000 Alero. I wandered around the junkyard the other day just looking at what seats might be low profile enough to fit. Most of the modern power seats sit up too tall. I didn't know if they would adapt, but they were cheap enough at the junkyard to just try it. Next time maybe I'll get lucky and find some leather Recaros.
It took more time than I expected to cut off the seat tracks and trim down some spare vanagon seat tracks. Then positioning the tracks,, drilling and bolting them onto the seat bases and a little filing for final fit. Plus figuring out a way to put in the seat adjuster rod so the seats stay in position. The underside of the seat was just wide enough to attach the tracks directly to the bottom of the seat base which makes them fit nice and low.
I haven't seen how they feel on the road yet. But this was more of a fun project, and I may not keep them anyway.
They fold forward which may be helpful and they recline more than vanagon seats.

Sorry for the late reply - just saw this.
They have a lever. I'd actually like to cut in another couple of notches to add finer range of adjustment. _________________ 89 Syncro GL Westfalia 2.1 WBX/WBXaustSS
