Surprised this thread didn't exist yet.
A running sunroof van for $1000.
http://reno.craigslist.org/cto/5344285480.html
$700 Carat.
http://duluth.craigslist.org/cto/5334702241.html
I am going to predict that this thread will pass the "Good deals on nice vans" in about 2 years.

Another sunroof model for $800.
Perhaps I should forget the idea of putting a pop top on my Syncro and just put on a factory sunroof.

If I had another tin top syncro I'd be thinking about putting on the sunroof. Probably get more use out of the sunroof than the camper top. |

if that were within ~5hrs of me it'd be home by now..
I'd totally rock'n a 2tone blue sunroof van as a daily/around town driver...
be great for garage sale'n http://www.jumpingfrog.com/images/magads2/mas1187.jpg

A good deals thread is a good deals thread.
Not all vans in the existing thread are perfect, so how is this different from the existing? |

Nice vans are nice vans and bad vans are not nice vans. For example, a $500 wrecked rusty Westy that doesn't run and is only good for say, a tintop conversion, would not be a candidate for the "nice van" thread but would fit in this thread just fine.
I have been looking for "donor" vans and the "nice vans" thread is the last place I'd expect to find one.
If the existing thread was, as you misstate, just a "good deals" thread, I'd agree. _________________ 84 Westy with a 2.1 (Groover)

Look at the van in the 4th post. Nice or not? Depends on who is looking.
I think there is likely to be confusion. |

I recall people being chastised for posting vans in the Nice thread that weren't up to someone's definition of "nice". You can't please all the people all the time. Feel free to not look or post here if you are upset by it, or click the "report" button if you think this thread is violating some rule.
If there is confusion, perhaps someone's parental controls are not set on their browser correctly.

I like the idea of this thread. I'll be following it. Not stop talking whether this thread is valid or not and send us the good deal on nice wrecks ! _________________ 89 manual Vanagon GL Wesfalia |

If this thread was up last year I could have made someone very happy.
There was very low mileage carat that needed a clutch. Went for under a thousand and needed nothing else.
Was on CL for weeks. That sucker was clean clean clean. |

I was searching for a parts van for a motor/ tranny combo for my 81 transporter. PO said the head gasket on the engine was bad. Pulled the motor, fixed the problem but then never got around to putting the engine back in. After buying it and looking it over closer, only has 65k miles on it and no major rust. No rust at all that I could see. Might be to good to scrap out. All I really need is the tranny. $500

86 tintop with a partial subaru conversion asking $3800. Not too much detail on where the owner is in the conversion process, but might be a good deal.
