Classy...all around classy. Cool

PS: Am I the only one who gets a kick out of seeing rigs where the trailer is worth 10x more than the load...???

Not really as extreme as you think; the buyer used to own that Dodge diesel pickup and sold it to his boss with the understanding that he could borrow it on occasion. He also borrowed the trailer from someone else on the forum where I first posted about the van, but the trailer's inspection sticker was about two years expired and he got nailed by a Statie on the way down. Even with that he figures he's way ahead getting a free van. He did say the cop would have cut him some slack if the sticker had not been quite so expired.

By the way, my $3000 minivan + $400 trailer combo carries loads of mulch and manure all the time, so your value observation applies to me as well.

All that's left is an '87 shell (and at least one seat and one pane of glass) but it looks like it has lots of good panels on it. Near dobryan, from the looks of things.

Unsure if it has been said yet, but there are no bad Van's, only bad van owners.

There's an '87 tin top that's going to be in the Denver city impound auction on Saturday.

A non-Vanagon friend of a Vanagon friend (pretty flimsy, I know) has seen it in person and says that it's intact; could be a good deal for somebody?

I couldn't find any pictures of it anywhere, but here's the vin:

That's all I know but thought it was worth sharing. Smile

There it is! I checked the website night before last and didn't see any photos. Thanks!

I'll be watching the U-pull-it yards very closely for this one...

I don't understand... It looks as if someone really took steps to make this a great bus.. modern stereo, EV steering wheel, engine looks pretty clean. Then, all of a sudden, its full of junk, and towed away? Damn.. Just about breaks my heart.

Great parts rig! I'd love it myself. But then again, I am stupid crazy. I'm telling my Denver band mate that he needs it Wink

Lower cover on the steering column is not on and wires are hanging out. I wonder if it was stolen and maybe the engine/trans were trashed and the insurance totaled it?

It is sad to see. Sad

It is a pity. Would be a good parts van if the price was right. Here in the SE there are so many bays and other rusted out VWs on Marketplace, but the asking prices are just insane. Sad to see for sure.

Damnit. Talking with a buddy about a plan to save it.

Registered to bid, arranged for storage, and might, *might*, be in. We'll see.
