Got the long block installed over the weekend.

Girlfriend helped build and install this engine, took only 1.6 years for me to build it!

Question please. Why do you install a bare long block into the car?

These are interesting heads, they appear to have no O-ring grooves under the rockers?

Hey Bashr this had me recall a comment in Bentley Orange that had me scratching my head (figuritively) when I built my motor. It says, on page 18, section 19.1, that "Note - the silicone rubber seals were eliminated beginning with the 1977 models. Consequently, the seal recesses in the cylinder heads, including replacement heads, have been discontinued."

There is the lower lift height thing, if you're not removing an apron you gotta get that bug way up there to clear the shroud right?

My guess, however, is that it was time to get the motor outta da house!!! It was the pictures of Duncan's motor being built on the kitchen sink that inspired me to bring mine indoors for the winter to build it.

None needed, the threads that the rocker studs screw into do not go through the head like other models. So the oil cannot leak out of the rocker area.

thanks!

Thats the exact reason. Also so the tin doesn't snag a engine bay seal and rip it out of the channel.

A few reasons.

My jack doesn't lift the car high enough to clear the fan shroud.

I haven't finished cleaning all the tin. Rolling Eyes

Also helps me not snag a engine bay seal when installing the engine.

Filled the new KCR transaxle with 80W-90 gear oil yesterday.

I can't recommend Kevin @ KCR more than enough, VERY helpful with trans-axle needs.

I chose to keep the Transaxle bare magnesium as it came that way from the factory. Plus, it will have a nice clean ground connection with the engine.

Hey I want to show you some different tools to R/R those plugs. Including the ever popular poor boy tool which is self explanatory. I didn't include the 3/8 drive hex.

That's pretty nifty right there.

I just use a hex socket on a 3/8' ratchet lol.

The Hazet wrench top and the Snap-On. Both fit between frame horn and tranny and because of short depth give great feel won't slip.
