In case you were wondering about the tow lights bolted onto the pan, I towed the pan to my buddy's house to pick up the body
Right after we dropped the body on the pan:
So this is pretty much where I'm at right now..car is kinda stuffed in the garage, so space is limited for wrenchin' on it over the winter.
Also started to make a body dolly. Its gonna be similar to the one below:
I'm planning on getting some Crestline rims and ultimately look like this but with towel bar bumpers.

Great work, glad you know body work....lucky! Looks like you have a few in the garage, have you restored the others there too?

It looks like you have a nice start for your body dolly.
Can you post some pics of it when you you get it finished?
You think your work space is tight? Look at this cramped space that I have to work in. I can't even open the doors all the way. Front fenders clear the door frame by just 12".

Thx yea I've been working on these bugs for a while, since 1990 when I got my 1st one. I did all the bodywork/paint on the Jeep and dune buggy. The Mustang under the cover is an '02..too young for any bodywork _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Working on this driver door still. Had to take some small dents out of it and use some filler.
And touched up the antenna hole
Filler I'm using is kind of a middle of the road one. Better than bondo but not as good as Rage Gold.
This aftermarket fender fender looks like it was hit pretty bad. I may look for some original rears.
Gonna have to take this out too and fix it with a new reservoir panel
Also not sure why the nutserts are all intact on this side..
But replacement ones welded in on this side.. I may get original ones and weld them in

Picked up a 71' 1600DP AE cheap. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Was pretty greasy so I hit it with the pressure washer.
Carb on it is like new
Also picked up some parts off another Samba member in PA for the engine.

Here's before and after on the headlight. I need to swap for the smaller amber dual filament bulb since I want to change it to a park/signal light. Anyone know what's needed to convert it over to a park/signal light? Thx

Had to fix the spring section on this decklid. Used a section from a fatty lid.
Still need to grind it down and smooth it out. Anyone ever weld the one side that isn't welded? _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Haven't done much on the bug lately..just been collecting more parts.
Crappy looking aftermarket reservoir panel
NOS DP oil cooler
Another steering wheel
Heat knob housing I was missing and shifter knob
Had a guy cut this decklid piece latch piece since my rear apron is newer style aftermarket and I don't have it
Got a decent mirror with visors that I'll end up painting
Got another set of wheels that I'm going to have widened and a spare too
NOS TRW steering box
Original jack I was missing, not sure if the handle is correct though, anyone know?
Thought these were pretty funny, never seen these patch pieces before
Also got these too, NOS in the packaging, for a bus though

Jack handle is not correct, you need one that is straight for the most part with a slight bend at one end.
You stow it in the hollow tube of the Jack.

Your Jack handle looks like looks like a crank starter handle. Might be worth a few dollars. |
