Sorry for hijacking the thread with a question, but does anyone know what type of window screen with fan is shown in the picture in the previous post? |

Buyer Question:
2002 VW Eurovan Westfalia
138k miles
Transmission replaced 8k miles ago (brand new VW Transmission)
Engine water pump blew, dropped coolant. Warped head.
Has donor VR6 engine, complete.
Would be buying this van from a couple I used to work for, and used to see this van once a week for a couple years. (was the Costco hauling rig for produce as I worked at a local bistro). The current owners bought it used with 20k back in 2005/2006.
What is this van worth? Realistically, needing to complete an engine swap, what would be a respectable offer for both parties?
Overall condition 6.5/7 out of 10.
Thanks for any insight,
Sam |
Missed this.
My take via top down approach
Worth $25000 in up and running condition, with all Maintenance up to date.
Figure 20 hours of labor for engine swap, another 10 hours to get engine squared away.
so minimum 5k deduct.
I would double the labor costs for the unforeseen or unknown, you might not do this for someone you know and trust.
15k max private sale. _________________ .ssS! |

I kindly disagree. $15K is too much. If you're eagle eyed and are ready with your finger on the trigger, a good ready to run unit in as good (6.5-7/10 condition) can be purchased for $15K with no sweat equity. My opinion is sub $10K |

I just purchased a 2003 Eurovan MV for $8k total with a replaced transmission and 160k miles. I feel like I got a great deal, but now I am reading the forum and getting second thoughts! I drive 10k mi per year, did I get in over my head? |

Don't know why the photo won't post. Does it on other forums. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

Spotted these two at a car lot on U.S.17 near Bealeton VA.
Blue '01 MV for about $12K and a red '00 pax for $4K.
