it's going to be interesting to see if the public at these auctions appreciate pressed bumper busses over a late model 23 window, or if they see any 23 window the same as any other 23 window. I would like to see this bring more than the record breaking one he sold earlier at Barret Jackson. |

I would have wanted a proper dash handle and clock. Not sure what is going on there. But for 40 grand... _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

they are not going to notice any difference, they just care about the extra windows and the sunroof |

x2
I know of one. (1) one 58 w/t 15 window
I have seen it in person and know it is legit. I sold it to someone who likes early w/ts more than I do.
After a road trip in one ('61, not '58, but still a messed up seat position) once in the early nineties my back was killing me. I have not been interested in building one for myself since.
Any 58 w/t is rare. I think if it was a real '58 15 window someone would have sold it privately or put it up for more than 40K on this site.
Yes, IMO the price is too low for a legit one.

Would this one count as a legitimate one (not 58 of course)?

Yes i have the birth cert it was a 58 dove blue kombi walkthru with short middle seat delivered to San Francisco. I hate to put it back that way it was because the interior is so nice, but the barndoor grab handle on the dash must go.
and that 56 at Barrett is super nice but i don't think they will go near as crazy over it as his mouse gray one a couple years ago.

So you won it? Congrats.
The dash handle would have been an accessory so it could be removed or put in a more pleasing alignment. _________________ How to Post Photos

A buddy of mine was there at Palm Springs buying some cars and i told him to go 35 on it for me for i didn't see it in person and he went 37 and said he would keep it if i didn't want it. He had Reliable haul it back with the other cars he bought. |
