Just wondering what everybodys opinions are on painting the front grille?
I'm thinking about painting mine the same white as the bumpers and eventually the wheels and I'm just wondering how it looks.
Did any busses come from the factory with different colored grilles?
Does anybody have pics of busses with white grilles?
I'm hoping to brighten up the front a bit seeing as I won't have an emblem on until I get to work and fill in the old spare mount holes. |

I think a white grille looks like shit unless it's on a white Bus. |

I think the early bays with the white tops had the front grilles painted white as well. I think it looks much better on the early bays because the grille is separate from the turn signals. The later bays did not have white grilles (at least my white toped '73 doesn't).
Here is my '72. Now she has those awesome little eyebrows, but otherwise she looks almost as good. The winter was hard on her *tear*

In a failed attempt to chrome mine, it ended up with a flat silver look...sorta looks like bare metal, i like it.

I'm liking it so far. I think I'm going to give it a shot. If I don't like it I can just respray it down the road. |

X3. Up 'til this past weekend, I had never seen the "optional accessory" bottle-opener-on-the-car thingy until I saw one on the grill of a Studebaker rat rod pick-up featured on the Speed Channel. Now I've seen two in just a few days. The next customizing craze, perhaps? _________________ '69 SingleCab

I painted mine white. Turned out good. I bought an after market one but realized that when i mount it on the nose clip, it bulges out from the rest of the bus. (grill is not flush with the nose of the bus). I also had to get a new nose (seeing as how the original one was too far gone. Any ideas? _________________ -1973 Volkswagen Bus Westy (Weekender)

Found my Coca-Cola bottle opener on EBay and it came in the original box. I mounted mine inside the Bus, too hard to reach it from the driver's seat at 65 MPH through the vent wing! And check out my gallery....I was going to paint my grill white to match the roof but She decided that chrome was the way to go. So much for my ideas.... _________________ Never drive faster than your Angel can fly
