Hi all. Am on a road trip, can't get gmail to work so am posting here. Sorry for cross post but this info may help other vw inline swap owners.

Has anyone here successfully used a newer style Bosch alternator with L terminal on an older vehicle with D+ wire? Ie connected the vehicle blue D+ wire to L on new alternator?

Net searches and a dig ram in my a3 Bentley show this may be ok but could use real world experience.

Seeing my post I'm reminded of that road trip. None to be had right now!

Ok. Helpful to know. On that trip, at a dirt road wayside somewhere in CA, I swapped that alternator in. But, the alt light would flicker on/off and if I recall correctly, the alternator made a clicking noise. I re-installed the rebuilt Bosch alternator that was already on the engine. It stills works but sure looks old. Not sure how efficient it is anymore. I returned that spare alternator to the wrecking yard.
