Hi,
Does anybody have a label file for the VCDS software that handles a ASV TDI engine. I suspect I can use an ALH engine label file as well. VCDS does not seem to come with those engines anymore.
Thanks,

if you have a legit vag com post to the vagcom forum and ask Uwe for assistance. it better be a legit system, and post an autoscan or he's not gonna be too helpful _________________

it's a rough crowd in there, so be patient. they get kind of sick of trying to breastfeed people that don't want to put in the effort. just register your system (if you haven't already) and if you're not argumentative with the guys on the forum, they will jump thru hoops to help. it's a good group of miserable pricks _________________

Good advice, thanks. I have registered so no problem there. I found the ALH file and its essentially the same ECU (almost) so I'm 99% there.

Usually the software “picks” the label file when it connects to the ECU. When you connect what happens? Does it error out or does it connect? _________________ ☮️ |

There is no label file for my ECU and no remapping for it, my ECU is: 038 906 018 BA
The ASV is very closely related to the ALH, so the ALH file is 90% there.

But what happens when you try to connect? You can open a label file with notepad edit it and save it with a new name. That might work. _________________ ☮️ |

That is what I have done, but have not been outside to test it yet.

renaming the ALH file for my ASV did the job for everything I'm interested in.
Thanks for the help.

Make a copy of that file and save it in another location. VCDS updates frequently and I’ve noticed the updates replace the label files. I use my VCDS for other vehicles so I accept the updates. There may be a way to disable updates. It’s annoying because if you skip the update when prompted it asks you again next time you use the software. It won’t update without an internet connection, so that’s another way to disable the updates. Glad you got it resolved. _________________ ☮️ |

That is great advice that I did not listen to . I had to redo my work. _________________ 'Lucky' our 1987 Red Westy, ASV 1.9 TDI ~130HP, Peloquin differential (had a GW 2.3 that we loved, but it died, we drove it hard!)
