My slider was giving me problems opening. So I decided it was time to replace the nylon glider and clean and regrease all the bits. Then I found one of the latch rods just fell out of the box. It looks to have been riveted, I think. The rivet hole inside the box is out of round, so this has been a growing issue. Other than finding a good used unit, is there a way to fix this?

how thick is the metal/hole depth? if you can thread it, make a stud/spacer etc and put it back together.
what year is it? if you're hard up, I may have one _________________

Its from a '72, I thought about tapping it and using a shoulder bolt, but I don't know how much room there is behind it. It looks to be a tight squeeze. I think this is why it may have been riveted.I checked the Bentley (sorry to use profanity Skills) and also my service manual and neither confronts the issue. |

Thanks, Aeromech's pics provide a lot of info. Seems it's not a rivet but a press fit post. Mine was sheared off and you can see the hollow shaft remaining.
I don't think it would wise to try and tap it. I'll look into my parts stash, I may have the piece. If not, I''l source a good used one. |

If you can't find one.
221843654B 8/70 to 7/73
Bus Ok has an ad running for a NOS one. Airhead has used ones. Ken Madsen would be the best price _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
