What's his method for the forward vertical tab? I must have missed it I've seen most of his build videos

Looks good. Don’t forget to Glideking the forward vertical tab. Quilting club sounds great. I need to work on my patchwork though. |

Edit: I just found the video where he said to hammer the front vertical flange flat then sandwich it between the outer rocker and inner piece. I'll experiment around with it! |

He was pretty convincing about it. I had no reference so I went with it. |

Took today off so I have a three day weekend to work on this thing. Long side and nose area goals! Here's today's work so far
I was going to cut this section out and leave it out but then I was thinking how much of a hack I would be by doing that so I took some bus floor I had laying around and made a piece
Trimming the long side panel
Coated in ZRC primer, waiting for it to dry

Long side panel battle is over. Is it perfect? No. There are two spots where the panels pushed together and made a ridge. Nothing I can't beat flat with my hammer. There is an are about 1 ft long right in the middle where the large hit the drivers side took years ago kinda curved the panel in ever so slightly so that area is sunken inward a little. Just have little details to so tomorrow and weld the inner braces and this thing long panel is done. If I ever did this again I would get a compete side panel.
Tomorrow that nose panel will be welded on and my metal work will almost be complete.

Looks good, no worries. But, this and my welding skills(?) are why I got the complete long side...not in yet, but my skills [and patience] are limited right now. Keep it up, so I can find motivation. At your and my respective rates, you'll be finished and enjoying while I'm re-reinstalling the damn dogleg and trying to get door hinges correct for DS door fitment! _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

The worst part was the butt weld but my long side had been hit and my pride said I could do just the lower!

That side looks pretty straight. When I welded my Long panel on, I convinced myself that it was right on and a little grinding would seal the deal. I’m pretty sure it is warped and crooked. I applaud your skills and patience. I can’t wait to see the nose job. |

Haha! I was thinking the Same thing then I ended up with a little ridge anyways. Oh well. The front seam that you have to hammer over turned out nice and some beating with a hammer has about half of it flat enough to not need but a skim of filler.

Not satisfied with the condition of my lower window frames, lots of burn through while welding and heavily pitted. Got the lower section of order from KF. Should have inspected it closer but oh well! |

Feeling more confident about the lower frame after cleaning up the plug welds. It's still a little wavy but pretty clean and there is a nice seam all the way across. I wanted to avoid the lower frame replacement at all cost and I think I am going to leave it alone at this point. Honest opinions are welcomed!
Crimped last night also, still have to get a cheap pair of vise grips to make my "finish crimp" tool.

In a knee jerk reaction I bought this panel and am now on the fence about actually replacing the thing. Thoughts anyone?

What you have is there now and looks usable. That seam between the nose and windshield frame is notorious for wicking and rust bleeds. How will you seal it either way you go? |

Thanks for the input!
I am not doing any of the paint work so I was going to have my guy take the frame down to bare metal then spray the lower valence, frame and doglegs with epoxy primer. I had the nose panel done in epoxy already. The lap joint there at the frame was covered in ZRC then welded then I was planning on doing another shot of ZRC up under the dash after it was all metal worked.
