Thanks man, it's getting there. A few more stupid little body things to get done then it waits for its turn for the actual bodywork at a bodyshop lol |

Still oil canning too
This corner was such a mess. |
Have you tried the shrinking disc on it? That should take the oil canning out in a jiffy. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I'm just leaving it to the pros to tackle from here on! Both sides around the taillight openings are oil canning so I know I'll pay a little extra but it will get done right.

Ryan, Those corners look great! Sure you could have replaced them entirely, but what fun is that? Haha. You are doing an awesome job! |

Thanks! Yes oh what fun I would have missed out on! I think these are particularly difficult because the area around the tail lamp is flat with zero structure behind it. Add in years of backing into things and this is what you end up with I guess! That's what filler is for though right???!!

Can anyone explain the layers that make up the "fold" from the load bed to the long side rocker?
Am I correct in saying the factory installed the complete rockers then spot welded the long side to the load bed then folded/ hammered the lip over?
I am contemplating something.... |

finally had time to cut this mess out and do it right, was surprisingly easy to bend the load bed edge up and simple work the panel up and down once the other three sides were cut to bust the top spot welds, basically fell out after that.... now I can clean up a few little problem areas that were bugging me and put my complete panel in

Those look good. To avoid welding near your nice new covers, you can make tabs and screw them to the frame. |

not sure how to close this off, it is the bottom of the drivers backrest where it meets the hinge.... i'm thinking a hog ring here to bring these two together?

got this little pain in the butt area taken care of, i am proud to say my truck it now 100% bondo and fiberglass free haha
this sort of blossomed into a larger project but it's done and would have been difficult to do clean with the long side on

I have been working my way around the body filling pinholes and other little things, I filled these treasure chest floor holes then worked on my lower door repair some more.
unobtainium had a free bin at the ski round top swap meet today, got a nice trans mount out of the free box!

Great thread. I hadn't seen it before. Seems like not many people are taking the time to post these types of metal repairs these days. Glad some still are for our viewing pleasure.
It much funner to watch and not have my nose clogged with grinding metal/dust. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
