AST ball joint press sold off the tool trucks. I believe this one came from SNAP ON.

Snap-On would be correct.

- The "blue" powder coat on the casting was unique to Snap-On.
- Red powder coat was designated for Mac Tools.
- Black used on Kloster's GP Tools and TRW.

Here's a pic of the ak1 kit so I must be one of the lucky few that have one. I really wish the time pirate did later super ball joints. It would have been a great all in one tool. [/url]

Wow! You even have what looks like the original box along with the instruction/promotion sheet that would have come with the GP1006AK1. A treat to see.

For the adapter kit (AK1) to perform, the kit is used in conjunction with GP1006 and D-ring.

The "Time Pirate" was developed prior to the VW Super Beetle introduction. We really wanted to do something to address this gap. However, the numbers / timing (when the service would be needed) just were not there to redo the "Time Pirate" or develop and market a unique BJ tool for the Super Beetle.

I guess why I could see the inward track bushing tool is rare if you had to take the arm off to do the ball joints on a late super you might as well press the bushing out too while it's off in the press cause the tool is designed to not have to take the arm off.

Btw I have a friend that has a time pirate and I think he knows the model number of the bearing. He's said he has had to order one before.

Can someone supply me with a part number for the thrust bearing? As mentioned it looks like a regular Timken bearing but I can't find a part number.

Is it a D8 banded thrust bearing??

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

It looks like the Timken T88 is the correct one with an ID of 0.885" (22.5mm)

Your cups have little handles on them. That's quite nice.

Here is the 1006 I picked up but my fitting look a bit different then the other ones I am seeing pictured. I seem to not have the short tapered ring piece but some other one instead. Can anyone shine some light if I am missing something or have a different tool? It came from a VW shop owner who just closed up and said it he used it all the time. Any info appreciated.
