Anyone have any trick getting the spring on? I was trying to attach the arm and the spring today and was having trouble. I ran out of time and had to get to work. I though I'd ask here since I have time. lol |

Engine in: Wind the spring on.
Engine out: Remove the circlip inside the bellhousing and slide the shaft out a bit. Yes, the TOB needs removing... It can still be a PITA job... |

I found this very helpful Clutch Arm Spring installation hint posted on Samba (sorry I can't credit the Samba member's id as I only kept the note):
Once the c-clip, lever and broken spring are removed, clean everything up. Install lever "half way" back into position.
Position the spring so that it is hooked on the top and the other end (straight end) is pointing straight down. Take the
smallest 1/4 inch drive "deep well socket" that will fit the spring end pointing down and stick that end into the socket
and get into position. This is important; Line your arm up so that it is pushing straight up with the 1/4 inch end of
the socket in the heel of your palm and "quickly" force it straight up and slightly toward the passenger side of the car.
The spring end will catch on the lip and then you must take a flat head screwdriver and I used the handle of a heavy
crescent wrench to tap the spring end into it's seat. Then gently tap the lever the rest of the way onto the shaft.
Re-install the c-clip using the correct pliers.
The only addition to the hint that I would make is to clamp a pair of Vise Grips on the arm to keep the top of the spring from sliding up as you put the straight end into position:
