Indeed, every repair looks a little better (even though the first few weren't bad either), that bus is really coming along, slow and steady wins the race!

I meet people like this - about 1 out of 1000, maybe 10,000 |
Thank you so much! I really went full on with this project August 2017! That’s when i started autobody school and my apprenticeship. Before then I was caught up with Homesteading in Wisconsin while working in Illinois.
Thanks again for your recognition. People like you make me want to keep going. _________________ The fastest thing you can do is slow down.

Thanks! You’ve given me advice and shared your wisdom throughout the whole thing. Things are speeding up as I get better with welding and fabrication.
Most importantly I’m not afraid to cut anything off. My first cut and weld on this thing took about 3 hours of mental prep each _________________ The fastest thing you can do is slow down.

Yes! That was my intention with the whole restoration. To let go of fear and to trust. Even with the bus still in the shop, the journey has already began _________________ The fastest thing you can do is slow down.

Door Repair
I ended up redoing my first patch on this bus!
fabricated this patch in one piece. Diagonal with rounded curves were tricky
I used some 3m panel bond on the flange to the outer skin

I painted my little cousin's future subaru in exchange for the engine, transmission, and wiring harness. The work was done at school. Good practice for my first complete
The paint is BMW Mineral gray. Ultra fine metallic with blue pearl.
The engine has 60k miles on it but I am going to do the timing belt and head gaskets on it.

Just read this whole thread. Great progress! It’s cool watching your improvement throughout the process. This is now up there in my favorite threads along with the Funky Truck resto in the Split forum. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

That really means a lot. I remember buying my bus and reading through forums on here. Everything was new to me, I had to reread everything because none of it made sense yet. Thank you for reading through my progress. The first 6 pages are me not knowing what I’m doing
Now I have a thourough plan. Can’t wait to go work on it tomorrow

I’ve done a lot of soul searching to get to where I am. This bus had me down to blood, sweat, and tears. Literally!!!
As I came to find out how expensive and time consuming this project was going to be, I really had to set some intentions. I truly believe life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I wanted to prove that to myself. Ive worked on this thing to complete exhaustion some days. I’ve massaged almost 2000 people since I got the thing just to fund the project.
Going back to school was a big step for me and it was full of anxiety. But it’s been an incredible journey and I’ve made best friends throughout it all. _________________ The fastest thing you can do is slow down.

Im taking a more surgical approach with this side. I spent time today planning my cuts and cleaning up the panels to prepare for welding. You must realize this takes a lot of time. I use cut off tools, reciprocating air saw, belt sander, angle grinders, 3m purple Roloc II sanding discs, and the dremel.
I managed to clean up this A pillar pretty nicely. I grinded away as much surface rust as I could and the metal still has its integrity. Im trying to preserve the A pillar so Im taking extra efforts cutting it free. Ill save it for a bus in need
These panels can't wait to go in!

Separating the A-pillar took hours and hours. I wanted to preserve it
Prepping to fit the dog leg which has the original b pillar still attached. The magnet LED light from Cyclops is one of my favorite tools. Ive used it for sandblasting, painting, and welding. It took a beating but still going.
Some of the tools for the job

With the flow -
Sorry to have to post this here - but I sent you a pm.
Can you tell me if you received it? It did not look like it ever went thru. Which means you may actually get it zero times or about 6 times.
Thanks
