I'm in the process of working on the wiring of my 64 notch. When I bought the car, the push button had been stolen and the wiring for the push button mech had been cut. The original 64 column was missing as well.

I'll be using a push button delete plate and separate switches. I'll also be using a 67 steering column, which brings me to my question:

The wiring panel on the 67 column doesn't have the provisions for the L & R side maker lights like the 64 column does. Now I'm left with figuring out the best way to wire in the side marker lights. My thoughts are to either wire them to the fuse panel where the L & R parking lights tie into the two left side fuses... OR wire them to the switch -58- where the L & R comes in. I'd guess its best to wire them to the fuse panel that way they're fused before getting to the switch. I'd like some thoughts on this please... Its not original, but I still try to make the wiring as clean as possible, and make sense.

How do you want them to operate? As blinkers?

Originally, they only work key out, turn signal switch on. They were meant to be on at night while parked on a narrow street

Mine are slaved to the turn signals (and 4-ways) like many new cars.

If you want them to operate as original - it has more to do with the ignition switch than anything else. There's a "P" wire that comes from of the ignition switch that powers the parking lights when the car is off.

If you want them to operate as turn indicators, you can simply add a jumper to the current L and R connections at either the relay or from the column.

OK thanks for the info. I want them to work as turn as running lights. I'll set them up like that, with a jumper on the fuse panel.

That's just a matter of tieing them together, then adding a wire from either the front or rear running light wire (come on with the lights).

I did mine as turn signals on both my 64 T-34 Ghia, and my 65 Notch.

The P slot as described on early ignition switches.

I recently sorted out my wiring on my 67 and have my side-markers set up as blinkers. Using the 67, USA diagram(Aug 1966), I tapped into the J1 ‘L’ and ‘R’ wires (Blk/Wht and Blk/Grn) going to the front turn signals. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input MonT3... I'm going to wire them simple as Bob suggested. Also, as Pedro says.. I want those suckers on all the time as I drive!

I recently moved and am looking for someone who knows type 3 wiring in the late s Angeles area. I have my side markers connected as blinkers, I am having an issue with the entire system blinking. When I engage the turn signals the lights stay on and do not flash. What may be the problem?

Any of the usual wiring gremlins will mess with turn signals: bad ground, open or shorted bulb, etc.

Where in LA? It's a large region.
