contact the photographer and see if he can get you the entrant info off the sheet on the windshield. His copy will be much higher resolution, and he may have more pictures of the car. |
After a short conversation with Edwin he no longer is a photographer and is a professor at a university. He will take the time this evening to go through files and see what he can find. Good stuff for sure. He is a BIG VW buff sounds promising we'll see. _________________ "The best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question, is to post the wrong answer" |

"Cash for Clunkers" got rid of a bunch of cars, nice or otherwise.
If was me, and I really wanted that car, I'd just build another one. I realise some people who had a hand in the original might no longer be around, but I wouldn't let that stop me IF I wanted it that bad.
As for that link someone posted, if it was a bay, You'd almost think it was Notchboy. That guy was from Washington afterall. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

This car is too old to be eligible for cash for clunkers. Plus there have been several relatively recent photos of it spotted... It's probably in storage now or in the middle of a restoration. |

Luckily I sell most of my cars to Samba members. It was easy to locate my Fastback and buy it back |

Not a hater here-- I like customs
I understand wanting the original one--- but it's not like it's a landmark "kustom" like the Hirohata Merc--

If I want info on a car, I can (legally) take the vin & $20.00 to the dmv & do a used car package. Ontario, Canada decided a few years ago to start this program, if I buy a used car it must have a background check for damages, liens, etc. This will also give me the names of all the owners who have had this vehicle.
This has also created a bit of an issue for people knowing where you live. I keep my vin covered for this reason & do not post pictures of the vin plate. |
Here in The United States not able to get that kind of info. Peoples information is guarded for safety. At best only a state location is available if you have a Vin#. Thanks for the Laws in your Provence. I wouldn't be this far without people helping people, I'm not ungrateful for the efforts of most, yes I'm relying on the power of the Samba " Thank You " |
I've gotten that kind of info here in the United States at least 3 times.
In Alabama, we have laws concerning "abandoned vehicles". If a vehicle is left on your property, you can sell it at auction for storage fees and any work you performed on it. The first step in that process is sending a certified letter to the currently registered owner. You fill out a form with the VIN and give them $20 or so and they give you the address.
If Alabama has something like this, I'm sure other states do also. |
