This project is turning out supercool! And can't wait to see the interior as it progresses.
It will be a major attention-getter when it's on the road. Dancing

We are almost there, tested all electrics today, everything worked perfect at once. Only some wires for indicatorlights to be swapped around.

Gave her a good sponge-bath and did the garden-hose leaktest, so far so good. Applause Laughing

last week finally got the list of tasks to be completed before getting the bus on the road short enough to finalize it. Got it checked and was able to drive it home Dancing

have to do some regular short trips to get the engine to wake up after a 8 year hibernating. But thanks to the 5-speed gearbox and the type4 2.0 it does a gentle 125km/h. More to come after first maintenance and final tuning of the carbs.

now it is parked home, I can start to work at the interior.

This is done, so dropped the bedbench at the upholsterer to create some upholstery for it.

Curious about the dash cover and bench/bed. Are they custom built? Beautiful ride.

Dashcover has been made by the previous owner, he used postalbags (from PTT Post in the Netherlands) so all the credits to him.

I have bought bench/bed in 2010 at Kieft and Klok, don't know the brand (and sure I did not keep the receipt, guess warranty is over now)

Picture time Cool Cool

Bed/bench turned out nice. Nearly same colour as the frontseats and for the piping the panel-colour is used. Bottomside of bench is also covered with a beige panel to close the framing.

after 2500km the engine was slowly waken up after 10+ years of hibernating.

Engine runs great but some oil leak,no steady lambda value at idle and 20 missing horses according to dyno made us schedule some refurbishment.

uninstalled engine and gearbox and dismantled the engine.

We noticed that the pistonrings where of the wrong size so these have been replaced by correct ones, luckily the pistons were okay.
Rebuild the heads and cleaned/sanded the valves.

Replaced all bearings and since the case was split we changed the camshaft to a webcam 270 with performance lifters.

Note the small mod we did in order to fit the VintageSpeed muffler, even without the bumper it looks better (but these were installed again shortly after)

Finally an update from my side.
Found a nice 2seat bench which I had sandblasted and powdercoated and upholstered.
I wasn’t too happy with the single stitching on the bed (requested double-stitching as per the frontseats.
So they replaced the covers and matched the stitching of the seats. Happy now!

Now I am thinking to maybe replace the piping in the seats for red piping to match the rest

Finally time for a long planned upgrade.
Out with the 2.0 with Weber carbs.

In with the 2.4 stroker engine and EFI.
The goal is that I can drive around Europe, and easily cross mountains over 3000 meters high without breathing issues I experienced with the carb-setup.

engine built is ongoing. Can't wait until its finished and testdrive it.

It's a 1968 model year. T2a means 1968-71 or 72.

Am thinking of adding an addtional bracket to support the 911/01 gearbox.

In order to make it look like factory install I will source two more engine brackets and will place these on the chassis at the gearbox location and then build a crossmember for the gearbox.
