My engine won't turn over. Checked some things, then crawled under and looked at the starter. Found a busted wire. This must be my issue right? It comes in from the battery compartment and looks like it heads up to steering wheel area.

I can't tell much from the first picture.
The second picture is a ground wire someone has added. Find out where it goes, but I doubt that's related to your starter not working. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |

It appears that the white wire in your second photo is a secondary ground. If this is the broken wire at the starter, then this is a simple fix for a starter installation which suffers from insufficient grounding of the engine/transmission assembly.
I would suggest that you check the transmission ground strap and the battery to chassis grounds. Our cars are sensitive to ground issues so you may find that this makes many other things work better once you get the car running.
BTW our cars should only have two wires at the starter, a small one with a slide on connection which is the switching current from the ignition switch, and the large one which is bolted on and carries current from the battery. |
