Lots of things were dismantled when I purchased my 73 westy. I have the automatic gear selector housing, inside the cab, to install today. One wire goes to the illumination lites (obvious). Does the ground wire, screwed to the floor, also go to the lights?
While I'm in the general area...is there a switch to signal a light that the emergency brake is engaged? Always appreciate your help _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

There is a supplement in the green Bentley manual in the wiring diagram section....supplement to wiring diagram A for the auto-trans selector
lever info. the brown wire grounds to the screw but is NOT shown in the
diagram ?
As for the parking brake Warning light This was NOT introduced until 1976
model year. _________________ V.W.owner since 1967 |

thanks-I saw that diagram too. The spade tip on the end of the brown wire is tiny -like it should go to the neg. side of the 2 lights that illuminates the selector . But there is no grounding to the second bulb. _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"
