I can't believe you sold a Coach wheel for $75 10-13 years ago. That seems like a lot to me. It's only in the past couple years that people have been paying stupid prices for those.

There was a guy with a gym bag of 10 of them at Pomona 2 years ago for $200. I wish I had bought it now.

My Rader wheels, like Thornton's, are rare, I guess. My speaker grille/clock for the Oval, maybe, is rare (keeps perfect time still, too). But the thing I have that is the rarest would have to be all the one-off stuff I got from Richard Guarino, who campaigned the EMPI "Inch Pincher 3" Split Window Gasser up and down the Eastern seaboard. I got the original Speedwell Restall reclining seats (No, Dave M, I don't want to sell them) and the original EMPI jacket, Nomex firesuit, helmet, and driving gloves from the Inch Pincher 3, and a Derrington steering wheel that was adapted with the Oval/Bus EMPI horn button, to Richard's daily driver, a Karmann Ghia. I got unused mailing labels, stationary with the EMPI logo and blue and orange stripes down the side of the paper, stickers from the East Coast division of EMPI (different and even more rare than the regular EMPI ones) truly one-off EMPI stuff. YUSTRN has seen all the stuff I got from Richard. I won't tell the story of how I came to be in possession of all this stuff, because it would make someone look very, very, stupid.

Dave... i remember a certain chrome Bosch 010.

One of my rare items is a NOS Rosco right hand mirror made during the mid 60's. I only know of one other, but want makes it more interesting is that Rosco was based in the town i live in and i found the mirror on a back shelf of the foreign auto parts store in town. Maybe 1 mile from where it was manufactured.

That's a tough one, but I think the rarest accessory I own is an NOS, in the VW factory box, oil filter kit for an Oval window...It's the same style as the fram kits that mount on the fan shroud like you would see on an Okrassa motor, but it's VW blue with a VW emblem on it and mounts on the firewall. Even have 2 replacement screens for it...also in VW boxes.
In 18 + years of collecting, I have yet to see another one of those.
Very Happy

This is pretty tame, but I wish I still had the working Sapphire VI radio out of my old Ghia.

I think its a piss funnel

You know, take a hole saw to the pan, weld that cup in place, aim at the target while driving down the road to take a leak, no more rest areas!

okay, it is a funnel for post ´75 fuelinjection beetles with catalytic converters. then it was possible use outside california leaded fuel when unleaded wasn´t available. also the catalytic converter had to be removed or it would be damaged when used leaded fuel

filler neck diameter was smaller in california models.

rare or not, but i haven´t seen others never.

ten points for superskim!

Wow, that's the correct one. All those "orange" Frams that you see are not really correct. They were made for tractors. The "blue" ones are the real deal. Very Happy

Back when I was around 13 my dad built us a volleyball court in the backyard and to keep the net up he used two American Racing Rim 5 spokes and filled with concrete that where 5 lug VW. The other two he had he used for hose reels.

Just Kidding.
