This is a follow up to a conversation started in another thread.
I blew up the clutch in my AAZ after some performance modifications. It looked like this:
I am running a stock 1.6d flywheel. This was a Sachs clutch for the same (with under 5k miles).
Thanks, Waldi, for the help so far! |

Mashined on the diametr 3mm off to use JX starter.
Instead of 4 (holes) for the oil pan screws you can do also only 2 or nothing.
Ofc needs to me balanced afterwards.
A ot mark needs to be done on the TDI pressure plate.
Edit:
Aftermarket dust plate behind the flywheel. |

Do you know the weight difference?
I'm missing something -- why would this affect the oil pan screws? |

There are 2 oil pan bolts you can't access with the stock vanagon oil pan with the transmission installed I believe. The notches give that access.
I am using a TDI flywheel and single mass clutch kit made by LUK. It did require going to a bigger input shaft that Christopher of T3 had in stock. There is a good thread about TDI clutches if I can find it. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=407987 _________________ ☮️ |

Didnt read Marks linki, so maybe you know already.
Weight is 9,6 and 7,4 jx without clutch.
I have postet somewhere the weights with clutch and modified but dont remember where.
Yeah ofc the tdi disc needs the tdi input shaft and the 2 nossels hamared in.
I always balance 2 times first flywheel than fw with pressure plate.
The last one was 20gr off.
Take the 2 piece dust plate.
Dont go the easier way with the 228 gazer disc. |
