As seen here in these pictures
I need to recover then but it appears these studs are pressed in to connect the upper and lower, however I find that unlikely. If so how do I reattach? |

I replaced my covers without separating the back from the seat. Those look like big rivets to me. Can of worms that might be better off closed. |

They are indeed big rivets, and stepped as well, I've seen them replaced with bolts and nylock nuts but the seat's are never the same.
You can do the job with it assembled. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

you can do it without pulling the top off the bottom. Be sure to check carefully for broken welds while the covers are off. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

And watch out for those nasty pointy retainer tabs or you'll bleed all over your new seats. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Ok ill leave them together then. I have removed the fabric and it appears that most of the tabs are intact. Thanks for the advice. |

I cheated. blew the rivets out and used stainless button head bolts. I have done it with the seat together but I decided to pop them apart. made it easier for sand blasting too _________________
