I did try and search for this, but got conflicting info, so here goes.
For which transmission (bug or bus) do you use the 18-3/4" axle, with 2 X 3 arms in a Type 1 chassis? Like I said, I have seen posts saying both, but I know that can't bee right since I had to go to 15-5/8 when I installed my 002 in my Baja. _________________ 69 road Bug 2110

Originally the 2x3 arms were made to use the stock length Bus axles when converting to a Bus (type 2 IRS) transaxle to keep cost down.
The Bus trans is approximately 18mm wider at outer edge of CV flange to CV flange then a type I transaxle, that is only 9mm on each side. I am sure you can use the same axle length.
You may end up with a little less wheel travel. _________________ Joseph
