|
|
This thread is dedicated to all dealer discussion, especially when it comes to dealer plate frames.
If you find any new dealer materials that are not listed in the Dealer Listings, please PM EverettB or email Everett at [email protected] so it can added to the site.
Note: Everett will also "steal" any images posted here for use on the site but will give your username credit on the "What's New" page when it is posted. :)
This is also one of the few threads where we allow "wanted" ads or request for dealer information or materials to be posted, although we still prefer your you to use the Classifieds whenever possible.
Original post below:

hi all- i noticed taylor's thread being hijacked and thought it to be a good opportunity for us all to put our "want's" in on 1 thread. basically, this should be an "i'd pay anything for a _____ plate frame"
here's my list:
Dries Motors (imports?) - Rapid City South Dakota
Colorado Springs Motors - Colorado Springs, Colorado
if anybody has, or has pictures... or have even seen these please PM or email me. |

I like this idea.
I'm after Spraker VW frames from Muskogee, Lawton, or Tulsa Okla. Brown VW from Tulsa, The bug stop of Muskogee, Brett and Johnny's of Muskogee, Franks Auto sales in Poteau, Okla.
Basically anything vintage from Okla.
Also after a license frame from North carolina, preferrably eastern NC.
PM me if you have any of these. thx

I'd like to find a ALLRED BROTHERS VW/PORSCHE, Glendale, California plate frame. It's gonna be a tough one though as it needs to be a pre'55 Frame for the BIG 1951-1955 Calfornia Black Plates. Will trade plus or minus with anything I currently have listed for sale here on thesamba. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

I actually changed the title of my thread to accomodate the license plate frame deal...I also collect them and have a few. I know I have one Riviera Motors coming to me and I might have found another one lined up.
But I'd love to find one from New Jersey (I think) from Taylor Motor Corp.

The VW logo plate that has the years "1966" or "1963" and "Volkswagen" with the VW logo and/or the bubblehead guy?
I think we all know the ones I'm looking for.
Anyone PM me, please!

I need the following:
Jensen sales (Boise, Idaho)
Wiehle motors (Boise, Idaho)
Capitol Volkswagen (Boise, Idaho)
Bob Reese (Twin Falls, Idaho)
I actually have buses that were originally sold at the dealerships in bold, and I have vws that are the correct era for the other dealerships, but they were originally sold elsewhere.
I also need a capitol volkswagen body badge.
I can buy or trade for any of these. I am willing to open up my private stash of rarest of the rare parts and NOS boxed accessories for the right stuff. (especially from Capitol Volkswagen) |

My bus was sold at this dealership, you can see where a decal use to be on the rear corner where the sun has left a stencil of faded paint. Maybe they didnt use plate frames since it used to have a decal on it?

Hey Lind,
no, not too cherry... a bit expensive when you first offered it to me, plus, its a new frame. The one I really want to find says 'winter volkswagen' along the bottom. from what I can tell, those were older style and would be more suited to my '59. |
this was the original off of my old '58 double door walk through panel:
I would happily pay three times the price ($40/$120) that I offered that plate frame to you for a simmilar condition (NOS/no pits whatsoever) Capitol Volkswagen frame. they made those frames out of crappy pot metal and chrome. pretty much the only cherry ones that you find are NOS. |

I double checked my sources and the other one I want is from Taylor Motor Sales of Maywood, NJ. There was also a used car dealer in the LA area way back when called Taylor Webb Used Cars...guess it was in the first "Gone in 60 Seconds" movie. It'd be cool to find one of those, too.
The coolest one I have is an Apollo VW frame from the greater Pittsburgh area from the late 60s.

I swear that Jack & Cee looks really familiar. Can't remember where I saw it, though. I do have a complete set of Mid-Oregon Motors frames from Bend complete with trash bags and key chains! Very cool, and no, not parting with it
