that was their recommendation(cb), because that much lift(505) would wear out my springs faster. i got duels that came w/heads.

You have the wrong heads for your application. A nice set of the Chinese castings, stock valved and about 50cc.

I am getting ready to start another engine so it may be a while. In the time being you should pull the engine, pull the heads, check your deck height and send those heads to Lee at action imports to get flycut. Reassemble with some nice 1.25 rockers, adjusters on PR side, lash caps, and chromoly pushrods. I'll help you with the reassembly. With better compression, .500 ish lift, and correctly jetted (dialed in with wideband) carbs it will run way better. In the end it's still a 1679 though. 80-85hp maybe.

my comp. is 7.7
i know i don,t need shims
but fly cut heads-to ???

that low compression explains why you needed such fat jetting so the engine would actually tear a paper bag.

looks like your heads have a big step in them? so your deck is actually much larger than .050

would explain poor combustion and lack of power

Have the steps milled out and it will fix your excessive deck issue and bump up the compression ratio where the can is happy. A smaller exhaust may help too. I'd bet it would wake up that engine.

i thought fly cutting the head was all i needed,
i want to do all the bells and whistles before they go on again

if you take em to mizzies guy have them remove the step...or take it down to .040 and set the piston deck to zero(flush with top of cylinder. or mill out step and leave piston down .040 or zero deck&.040 copper head gadget.
tighter deck will usualy use a smaller main &idle jet and the chambers will so stay a lot cleaner.

unless those heads dont have aastep....and were just looken at the thickwall cylinder seating that looks like a step Shocked

i took a razor and scraped the carbon
its flat across to edge
i lapped the jugs against the heads w/valve compound so theres a distinguishing mark
what ya think?
