Yup, it's a bitch. I wish TMI (are you guys listening at all?) would make that plastic/cardboard strip that hooks the top of the cover in place about a 1/2 inch wider, so it would grab and hold the cover in place. I've done 3 of them over the years, and that little strip makes the entire job a royal PIA, because it's too damn narrow. Keep this in mind Steve when you go to do your own.
Your interior turned out beautiful. Very nice job, and it looks sweet. Congrats. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

So been working on front seat belts. Talking with Tram, come to find out some PO installed 67 retracting seat belts in the front of my fasty which is the crab hook style with the chrome hoop on the center tunnel. Well my drivers side belt no longer retracted in fact the retracting mechanism was completely gone. Well I've done some brief looking around for a good replacement, but haven't found any cherry good condition ones. So with my brain turning at options and not wanting to leave the chrome hoop , just because I think it's so cool(just me probably) I looked into other options. Here is what I have landed on so far. Since my drivers belt was roached I had nothing to lose cutting it up.

Now that the brass rivet was no longer re-usable, went down to my local hardware store and purchased a tube nut and screw. Had to enlarge the hole just a little bit and cut the tube length down just a little bit, but it served the job purpose it needs to do. Which really is only to hold the case onto the latch. and still allow the slide release to work. It works as original.

Now was the tricky part. Find a certified upholstery shop that would sew on my OG latch to a new belt... Well mission accomplished.

That sucks! Why would you have to pay $400? I use PB and do pay to go ad-free, but it isn't anything like that Some folks I know are using Imgur, but the best way is to upload the pics to the samba gallery and they will stay there forever, and your beautiful work will be immortalized
Luckily I have seen most of your pics, but I was wanting to have a look at your exhaust system. Sounds great on Youtube! I am needing a new system myself, so I am keen to see all options available.
Cheers,

Yup, I've been doing that since I joined back in 2003, and all my pics are still present. Thanks Ev. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Pulled off my rear fender and put my amateur body work skills to work with my harbor freight hammer and dolly set. Beat out some dents and creases that have been bothering me.

I finally found a visor and wood slat roof rack that I believe to be a pedro rack, but there is zero markings on it that I've been looking for, for like a year. It was quite the adventure getting them from their location. They where located in Southern California and I'm in Middle of Oregon. Seller had them listed as local pick up only. So after a few text messages to a couple of friends, a band of brotherhood created a parts relay and was able to transport them to Oregon. It was kinda humorous, each time there was a hand off exchange I would get a picture sent to me like a garden gnome. took nearly two months.
