Anyone using one of these in place of the stock bug fuse blocks?

^ too many years trucking Pete..
Circuit breakers while a good idea and have a place in some wiring systems are rough on small diameter wiring and low tension small terminals with a continued cycling short.
Even small amp circuit breakers must reach and maintain the amp rating before it heats the breaker to the tripping point.
Fuses open once an amp rating is reached protecting the circuit from damage
In general, only if a blown fuse is replaced with a higher amp fuse (or a breaker) will circuit damage occur
Choose breaker locations and substitutions carefully. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

for a stock car I prefer the stock fuse holders. then can be restored to like new condition with some effort, and work fine. the problem with aftermarket upgrades is it is a pain to restore a vehicle that has its wiring redone in less than original fashion.
the old fuses can be made reliable. replace the corroded ones clean up the contacts, retension the springs. I have never an issue with y 61 bug fuse panel, 333000 iles and still going, last cleaned it up maybe 15 or more years ago. give the fuses a twist every now and then, golden!!! _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

Sure. the stock fuse blocks work fine.. nobody claimed they didn't..
After cleaning, and soldering to correct their issues they are reliable as any other fuse block.
If you use some dielectric grease (on any fuse) it will help with oxidation and the occasional "spin to clean" issue.
There are better (and worse) products made since the 1930's.
Its about choices that suite the builder.
The blade fuses have a larger surface contact and are less prone to oxidation.
Just stay away from cheapo crap and no name (like Harbor Freight) fuses.. Some have been found not to open when overloaded and have caused some serious harness damage... and not only vw's .
