I have the same top situation as you do. I have a 1970 westy bus that came to me without the pop up. I found a Sportsmobile top that I have rehabbed and am going to get a new canvas for. the question I have is fitting the canvas to the bus. do you know if it is attached the same way or is there an alteration that needs to take place? I know how it is attached to the top, it is the attachment to the bus itself that I am wondering about. |

the same way as what? a westy? on a SM the bottom of the canvas is stapled to 2 long pieces of wood(sides), and the wood is screwed down to the top of the bus from the inside. the front and back are not as fresh in my memory. maybe particle board slat for the curve? ask in the sportsmobiles unite thread. |

There is a strip of wood down each side about 3\8" thick by about 2 1\2" wide. The front and back have a strip of wood a little thinner , about 1\4" thick by about 1 1\4' wide. I can measure it if you need since I still have the originals. As alman72 said, they are screwed down to the roof of the bus, just on the outside of the rails of the frame of the pop top. These are the only pics I have right now that might help, let me know and I can take more if you need.

Project's been on hold last couple of months while I've been working on my house remodel. I got all my cabinet work roughed in and forgot to get on here and post progress. hoping to get some paint on the ol' girl in the next month or so. _________________ The past is history, the future a mystery, but today is a gift. Hey all, its been a really long break but I’ve finally made some more progress on my bus. Got her back from my buddy who sprayed her for me. Just waiting on doors and small stuff to get painted. Should have dash back next week. Now the fun part of trying to figure out how it all goes back together.

Got the dash all back together. Loving the look of the “euro” dash.
