So to be clear: Skinner Classics glued on both your nose and the roof of that vehicle? It’s kind of surprising he’s gluing pretty important structural metal body parts together…. |
Glue is stronger than spot welds. It is a totally legit method of panel attachment. _________________ .

Wow Lind thanks for answering my next question as I have heard Detroit's big 3 have been using epoxy for some time now. I've never been a glue fan being I still treasure my MIG welder however I see the best advantage of glue is time, less worry about warp and expense as the driven factors. But what about the overlapping of metal building up trapped moisture being they are not butt assembly?

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

There’s no way epoxy is stronger than melting metal together.
Wether or not this is standard practice for safely attaching full panels for restorations, I would defer to the greater body of knowledge/experience on here. I suppose any head-on collision is going to be bad with super glue or welding anyway. |

Hey, sorry I'm late on here to reply...
The shop where my bus is at... everyday cars came in to get repaired... they used glue, not weld and Robert the shop owner said the car factory used glue... so I trust them about glue metal on my bus and yes not worry about heat warp and rust corrosion in the future where can't reach to hidden spots... _________________ 1967 VW Bus walk-thru 21 window deluxe

Great episode MIC! Showed my kids that bumper with your signature on it and they flipped out!! LOL! I still have to get those ends welded on and then cleared, It'll eventually get done. Been working on the irs conversion at the moment. Hope your doing well, and the bus is coming along nicely! That seam sealer and bottom looked like a grind though! wheew! bet your glad that's done! _________________ 1965 velvet green walk-thru standard

I just noticed the date stamp on all of your videos. So episode 51 was filmed in August of 2021? I'm guessing the bus is done by now? Is it still in California or in Hawaii? |
