Quite the discovery! I have nothing to do with this, but thought the non-FaceBookers might want to see it too.

From the FaceBook post here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.642487515911390&type=1

Quote:
Here's an amazing car just recently discovered.....

A L41 Black 1964 Sedan purchased new by the current owner's Uncle at Gilbert and Seibel, Vancouver Washington.
Car was driven home and mysteriously *put away* by the first owner after accruing only 22 miles.

I like that under-rear photo. Stove pipe adapter in place, rubber boot on the oil filler condensation drain pipe, red rear shocks...

no gunge on anything...! Exclamation

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox.

OE VW muffler so new the paint isn't even burned off! Shocked Very Happy

Proper big barrel nuts on the heater cables/box levers too.

Another good concours reference is the muffler's clamp orientation, both at the heater boxes and at tailpipes.

Strange to see white paint on the front inner quarter panel under the gas tank area on an L41? If the cars were completely dipped shouldn't it be black as well?

I noticed that too, the white is oddly out of place. That's a lot of living in 22mi to get a repaint.

It looks like factory primer to me. I wonder if they simply just didn't lay under it when it was painted. I can't recall if bugs were still manually painted in 64?

Anyone else notice how well the muffler fits? Especially where the fresh air hooked up to the heater box with the wide clamp? Don't we all DREAM that the aftermarket POS mufflers sold today fit anywhere near that close at that junction?? Laughing
