Please do, there was another one that was started and it looked like it was going to be really nice but it just stalled out.
I would like to do exactly the same thing one of these days and am very interested in seeing the progress on your project. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

Hello Pondoras Box,
Thank you, yes very much inspired by Jdoisher 12/2011 build of "Dauphine Project".
I always had an interest in the Dauphines but the reliability and parts were the deciding factor in doing the swap.

The info so far,
69vw wheelbase is2400mm/94.5in(will confirm)
Dauphine 2267mm/89.3 in.
That is the reason you have to shorten it.
Taken off vw body parts today.

Hello All,
[/img]
A couple of friends and beers and "presto"!
Removal of the body was fairly simple but where the front beam is damage the steering box hung up the body when trying to lift it.
Did the old lift and twist and go.
I will remove the front beam this weekend and find another stripped pan for a front horn replacement.

Perhaps you could shorten the horn a few inches to correct the wheelbase. _________________ Jack Staggs

You need 5" - I suspect it would greatly reduce the amount you can turn the front wheels before they hit the pan. Would guess you do what you do with a buggy, just cut out less.
Whats the track width difference? Just curious.... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Hello Jacks and Andk5591,
Will look at your suggestions, there is a ton of cutting and welding to do.
Making a priority list and locating parts. |

You can tell the rear left is slightly bent in. Switch front good tire for bad left rear tire. |

You are in for a fight trying to get both ends of that pan straightened out. If you had another one, I would start with that. Keep in mind that depending on what you do, you will be shortening something and keeping everything square is very important.
I would suggest looking at som previous builds of something similar and see how they did it. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Hello ANDK5591,
Thank you for your suggesting, yup plumb lines and jigs will make the process less of a nightmare.
Have a master welder within my group, just need to give him beer after he welds up.
Will keep you guys posted. |

Hello All,
I ordered the underside of the bulkhead. I realized it would take me to long to take out the old piece from damaged bulkhead.
I was able to loosen the IRS pivots and set them aside until I can figure out how much I will have to narrow the rear end.
I will take pics of the process.
Will keep you posted.
