Wish you were bringing it to my location. I'd like to have an extra pan to do some work on. Smile

Hello SBD,

Maybe in the future I can take a ride up there. Would be a great way to make sure things don't fall off.

Keep up the good work, I got friends from France who run a VW custom shop and they approve of your project of "Germanising" a bit of French heritage Wink

I got a question for Tripwire though:

I was wondering where you found the air cleaners on your carbs, I have a Manx copycat buggy and the stock cleaners on my IDf's wont fit under the fiberglass... another question: the cleaners seem so low, do you have any velocity stacks under there or you use some extra short ones?

Thanks

The air cleaners are Ramflo-style originally from Austrailia, but Edelbrock etc are selling copies.

Hello All,

Wanted to give you what the cost of the build has been so far-

I bought 3 Dauphines from 1 owner, the cost of the Orange dauphine with CA title and registration was $800.00

1969 vw beetle, salvaged CA title $200.00 (mainly for pan)

Engine $40.00

Tranny free.

Front end and rear trailing arms 300.00 (originals from 69 vw were bent).

Set of 4 bolt rims $100.00

Uhaul truck and auto hauler $400.00 (moving car from storage to workshop)

AS OF 5/2017 $1840.00, this is not including late night beer, beef jerky and internet research.

Odds and ends still needed.

You list the price of a U-Haul truck and trailer at $400.00.

I have moved my bus three times from storage shed to different garages for WAY less than that.

I was going to rent a truck and trailer to move then I decided to do something that to me seemed counter intuitive. I called a tow company and had them send a roll back. It cost $45.00, I had them move it during normal business hours during a week day. Try that next time to see if it saves you some money. If you schedule it a few days in advance and are flexible on your schedule it helps.

Hello PandorasBox,

Original tow was over 600 miles! Shocked . The number does not factor gas and munchies on the trip.

Since I didn't have a spot to wrench, I have had friends who let me park it in there spot until I had a chance to move it.

Will keep you posted.

Yep that would have been one hell of a tow bill.

Roll back tow only works for local stuff, that was just me assuming that everybody else's situation is the same as mine.

Hello All,

Here are some pics on the removed bulkhead. It was a challenge, with a help from a friend we were very surprised how the bulkhead was attached. removing a piece at a time explained where the spot welds and weld beads where.
Also the tunnel runs all the way to the front.
