The middle sill goes tight against the pillar,it does not attach to the inner sill at the top,the floor is what bridges the gap between the inner and middle sill.
go check the build treads and gallery for pic and info. _________________ https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=620186

so i put in inside sill, but that i tryed to manage to put in middle sill with sliding rail, i spend 8h and still could manage to fit it, if adjust one place other moves and its not straight.... aa got angry
the sill with sliding rail it should be straight parallel to ground or it should be in small angle, because lower hings rollers are not straight they are also in angle.
maybe some one have some guidance how to do the best or how much cm or what angle should be where... |

I did this repair about 20 years ago on my bus and had a look at it after reading your thread. My door track seems to be at a slight angle with the outer edge slightly higher compare with the rest of the cargo floor. I tend to doubt that it is supposed to be that way, but my sliding door works and fits well.
When I replaced mine, I used clecos and small machine nuts and bolts to hold it all together and reinstalled the door to test for fit and moving smoothly. I remember getting really frustrated spending hours not being able to get it to quite fit so I called it a day, cleaned and sorted my tools, picked up the shop and went home. The next morning I was able to sort it out in about a half hour. I also remember doing a lot of measuring making sure the cargo remained square.
I would highly suggest you buy the Haynes restoration manual as well as reading other build threads. It's also a good idea to not cut away too much metal at once from the bottom of the bus, even if it something you plan to replace. It's good to have original reference points as to where things go. Best of luck. |
