I wonder when brazing repair panels was the rage? I'm thinking the 70s or 80's.
My 70' bus had several brazed repairs done to it. You're right, it's a pain to remove it all.
Keep up the good work! _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Blizzard today so stayed in the house and played around with a camper design. I decided to design my own but make it look period.
I have been slowly creating an acute 3D model to help. Most of the interior is within 2 mm. I need to confirm some of the dimensions.
So this is what I am thinking. I tried a 54x75 bed but It didn't leave enough cabinet space so went with 48x72. The left front cabinet will have a propane burner. Right front will be a fridge and hold a water tank behind.
I will likely start a new thread for this once I get a little farther along.

i would want a longer bed, even if it is just a 48x75. I would make the bulkhead cabinets less deep to allow for a longer bed. maybe make them a little taller?
I would give up the fridge completely and use a portable icebox. a good one. 5 bucks worth of ice will keep a lot of stuff icecold for a long time, and you can put it outside when you are parked. _________________ regards

I agree with the bed. I want to be able to sit on the front seat with bed down though. I have shortened the right front cabinet and front seat so should be good with 75... Will need to work on the bed frame to get the extra length.
Fridge is a must. Great for day trips and traveling. I will built it with a stainless liner and electronic cooler so it can be quite compact. Will have a AGM battery to keep it going overnight. _________________ My 64 Kombi restoration

You can see if it was a 1500cc Bus but checking for an air cleaner hanger welded onto the top of the engine compartment.

There is a bracket on the right and it is spot welded on... So a 64 1200 wouldn't have this bracket? |
Correct, 1200s have an air cleaner on the left side that mounts to the fan shroud instead. _________________ How to Post Photos

Then the birth certificate is wrong or is it possible the bracket was installed and not used? _________________ My 64 Kombi restoration
