That before and after dash. Wow! Looks like you’ll be able to start reassembling the bus in no time. Awesome job.

The before pics actually don't look that bad at first glance. Haha. Going to try getting the outside painted tomorrow. Then I will start assembling stuff. Still need to get the doors painted but need the bus drivable so I can get it out while spraying.

Paint on. Smile Very happy.

All good except two small runs. Don't think they show enough to bother fixing.

Sweeeeeet! Must've been one of the most satisfying moments of the build to just step back and look at the bus after the paint had just been applied. Looks awesome, I'm looking forward to some re-assembly pics!!

Tacky in the photos. This paint dries fast. Looking forward to seeing it outside.

Starting to assemble some stuff. Time consuming as everything was rusted, painted or a combination of both. Some of the really bad stuff will get replaced over time but for now if it "works" its good enough.

Blasted the door strikers and sprayed them with zinc. Going to look into plating them and my latches at some point but for now it is better than the rust.

Blasted and painted my light housings with chrome paint. They look quite good. Before they looked unusable. The sockets are still bare metal so will smear dielectric grease in them to prevent rust

Reassembling the project is definitely gratifying. It's good that you can reuse some of the pieces that otherwise might have been scrapped. Looking good!!!

I love seeing parts laid out like this haha. The tinkering and refurbishing/restoring of the little parts is certainly time consuming, tedious, and often frustrating, but I enjoy it.

How are you liking the spray can zinc treatment? I considered doing something similar on a few parts here and there, as needed, but does the finish look correct (given the fact I'm looking at pictures and not in person)? Cheers.

Great for what it is for. Goes on nice and paint sticks to it but you need to let it dry very well. Not a good finish though. Looks like grey primer. I am just using it on my latches and stuff that should be plated for now to prevent any rusting.

Controls back in. Few more wires and it will move under its own power again.

Lots of little details to research. Some fasteners are likely wrong but I can always replace them later. My goal is to get it driveable and then gradually make everything correct.

Looking good! Did you get a new wiring harness or was the old one stilt usable?

Old one was in terrible condition. Lots of cracks in the insulation.

Building my own harness. I wanted larger wire and better quality than the replacements. I went with 10 awg for main power and 14 awg for headlights and starter. Also added two extra wires for conversion battery. A boost trigger and a USB charger. Wire colors will not be exact but they wont show much.

It was difficult getting the new wire harness up through the front with the extra size but it did fit.
