That blue looks great. It looks flawless. |
Thanks!
I am very happy with how it all came out. Better than expected for being painted in a dusty shop with bad lighting and no ventilation.
Definitely not flawless though most will never notice. I could have spent another day on the long side and there are a few spots where that paint is a little thick and... But this is supposed to be a driver not a show piece, I may have got a little carried away. In the end I am happy I went farther than planed with the restoration.
Next week is our local car show and after that it will start collecting dings, scratches, chips and maybe a few dents... and likely won’t get washed either. Haha Not going to be too concerned. It is to enjoy, not become another thing to worry about.
I just remembered I need to dig out my hubcaps and paint them. They are currently chrome and still in their plastic from 28 ish years ago when I found them. |
I agree with the "It is to enjoy, not become another thing to worry about." I think it is very satisfying to use them as intended. I am looking forward to seeing photos of your bus in the car show line up! |

Got a bunch of remaining parts blasted and epoxy primer on. Lot of holes needed welding in. About 30 in the parcel tray alone. I must have welded in 500 holes in this thing. haha I just realized I forgot 4 in the override bar.
Installed the horn. Needed to clean the horn button. Still not working perfect and I suspect steering shaft is not grounding well. Seems like turning the wheel affects it. Really load through.
Found another wiper arm base but not the correct one. Works for now. Wipers working vigorously. Definitely a 6v. I will pick up a 12v rotor at some point… probably when this one burns out The shafts are worn and missing the caps so they will need replacing also.
Back window in and a few more parts on. Engen lid is not grounded so the plate light doesn’t work. Think I will just move the ground wire to the body. Can’t find my plate light lens. It’s around somewhere.

Looking awesome. What is the plan when it is all done? You are doing a passenger bus interior right? |

You can get an inexpensive 12 volt to 6 volt converter for the wiper motor. No need to burn the motor you have up and a lot easier to pick up good used 6 volt wiper motors later. Get a converter that will deal with at least 10 AMPs.
Plus add in a 12 volt PWM module for infinite wiper motor speed control. That way you can turn down the wiper speed for less wear on the pivots, etc... _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Camper interior. I plan to get the bed/seat in soon but remainder will be installed when winter comes around.
I have made a few miner design changes but this is close

Suggest you cut an angle in the RR of the forward cargo door cabinet. That way you can get into the cargo area without needing to open both cargo doors every time. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

They look backward to me. In the first pic can you take a picture with the lip bent back showing the rubber where it fits the inner groove? |
