Is there a trick to replacing the alternator belt without removing the AC or power steering belts?

You have to remove the AC belt, but the PS belt just needs to be loosened enough to allow the alt belt to slip past it at the crank pulley. I just did this on my WBX. The PS belt has a cooling line and the oil filler tube sticking through the middle of its loop.

The trick is to replace all the belts. As cheap as they are, there is no reason to do them at a later date. Do not buy cheap/no name belts.

I ordered the three ContiTech belts from GoWesty and had them installed two months ago. The ALternator belt is now fraying.

It was improperly tightened and/or the alt bracket is bent or broken. You'll want to inspect that area closely

There are at least two grade levels of Contitech belts, the cheaper ones will give you grief. Yes check the alternator mounting, this area is poorly designed and will fail early and often.

Like to replace my belts as preventive measure and have a backup set for roadside kit. From your guys experience, what's the best quality belts you can buy? And from where? Cheers!
