it's possible to use a sinlge port 1300 manifold on a 1200 40 hp engine with 1300 sp heads?
i want to know because 1300 manifold have a bigger diameter than the 1200 and the openings of the heads are different
thanks

I think you can do it, if it was me I would try to find a set of DP 1300 heads, they were used on European motors.

The 1300 block is wider than the 40 block. Also the stroke is longer 69 mm verses 64 mm. So the 1300 intake manifold has to be wider than the 40 intake manifold. I guess you can do it by modifying the 1300 manifold?

the 40hp case and the 1300 case are the same size i dont know what the other guy is talking about. Confused the motor is wider not the case.and i hate when they call a engine case a block! yes the 1300 heads and manifold will go right on. its a good upgrade. just need the 1300/1500/1600 cylinder tin.which makes the motor a little wider.has nothing to do witk the crank inside Confused

Sqmalt46 what I should have said is the case with the cylinders and heads installed is wider than the 40 horse. That is why the 1300/1500/1600 tins are wider. With a 69 mm crank the cylinders are longer. That is why the engine is wider. Therefore the 1300 intake is wider than the 40 hose intake. That was my intent. By the way when I said block, I meant the long block. That means the case with the cylinders and heads installed. And I do know what I am talking about. Does the angle of the intake port on the head come into play? I'm not certain when VW started putting the 20 degree angle on the heads.

Yes, 1966 1300 type 1 was the first type 1 angled. I think 1963 type 3 started the angled intake. Not sure about type 2. I think 1963 1500 type 2 was angled? That was the early 1500 engine similar to the 1967 type 1 if I remember correctly. Question

'63 Type 3s are angled, '62s are not.
'63 1500cc Bus is angled.

Just in case anyone is interested, I have a pair of freshly built 1300 DP heads that don't have a home. PM me for a price if you want them.

I read somewhere that the top headbolts needed to be longer to properly fit the 1300 head on my 1200 40hp. Is that right? Or no? Be nice if it just fits.
