Hi folks, it's been a while since I've checked in here. I'm moving in about a month, and I'm weighing the different possibilities concerning getting all of my stuff from here to there. One option includes towing my Vanagon behind a u-haul truck on a ow dolly. If I were to do this, I'm thinking I should put the rear wheels up on the dolly, so the transmission isn't turning the whole time. Somehow though, the idea doesn't totally sit right with me. I've also thought of putting the front wheels on the dolly and removing the rear driveshafts, but that seems like a pain. WHat would you do? Thanks

Manual or automatic transmission?

How far are you moving?

Tow dolly on front wheels , keep your speeds down to 60 mph

Tow load inspection protocol

First 10 minutes
30 minutes
Every two hours thereafter

Check tire pressures, wheel bearings for heat, tow straps for tension, lug nuts

Some recommend removing Drive axles , I don't do this unless they are due for repacking, in which case remove, move the Van, and repack at new place!

Just make darn sure the shift lever is in neutral!

Double check, triple check, check it again!

Plus you CANNOT BACK UP.
Don't even try, do NOT get yourself into a situation where you need to back up, be forever planning ahead.
