So I'm considering buying a GL Syncro Camper conversion. Stock Syncro, converted camper. Would you consider it? What should I look out for? I can already see in pics that there's a fair bit of Mickey-mousing but most of it I can handle/fix. My main concern I guess is with the added pop top. Should there be extra support after cutting out the roof? What else am I missing? I already have a 1980 2WD camper so I can at least compare the differences I suppose. Thanks in advance for your help!! _________________ Bluey, "The Wonder Slug" - 80 Westfalia Air-Cooled to EJ22 and now Frankenmotor. #thewonderslug

Hi,
If the hole in the roof did not cut out the cross brace at the c pillar, that's the one on aft end of the sliding door, then the structure is pretty well intact. The stock Westy roof has a modified cross brace (no bow, flatter) there. The tin top has an arched one.

I have no experience with this, but I believe the VIN may designate it as a camper or not. That might come back to haunt you if you had to make a claim at some point. _________________ ☮️ |
