Yeah, that is a really nice F150. You could put a top on the back and trick it out with a bed and storage underneath, it would be perfect! reliable, durable, capable, and spacious.

If you are coming to asia, a toyota hilux, especially the early 90s versions are pretty much your best bet for parts availability and ruggedness.

but can you put that drive line in a hi-top bus??? because that would be amazing-- reliability/ parts/ vw recognized brand--- and a heater/AC.

By the way, in large parts of asia, VW was absent in the market from late 80s to 2000s.

I'd advise against getting an engine from those years or prior.

More commonly you'd find toyota, daihatsu, nissan, isuzu diesels.

Toyotas are preferred in many parts of Asia.

Hey, I've been doing some digging around but haven't been able to find a vendor for a larger than stock Gas tank. Anyone heard of a vendor in the States?

I've found one in the UK who can make one at 65L (17.17 gallons) - stock size is 14.6 Gallons (55 Liters) - not much of a gain really.

If this is happening again, buy 2 locking jerry cans and spend more money on a quality engine.

Please could we re-visit the discussion on tires and wheels.

I'm working towards specing out a transmission for this journey and I'd like to work out what wheels and tires I might have first.

I need to have 15" rims and an A/T tire. I've been researching and there's a lot of info out there and I know it was said that the Dutch Brothers had issues with 15" wheels jamming - but I really need to go with 15" for tire selection down the road.

If the bus is raised slightly is there a 15" rim / tire combination that wont jam up. Any recommendations on wheels and tires that would be internationally available?

Thanks
