Button's attended her first Volkswagen gathering after her resurrection from a Colorado field. We attended the Painter's Grinding V-Dub BBQ in Denver.

Took the SB down to see my father. Longest trip since her resurrection, 90 miles round-trip and no issues. Dad had a 72 Squareback, the car I learned to drive with, and reminisced fondly of his. Noted that mine was missing A/C though.

Very cool. |
Just checked some of the pictures and posts here. This is one of the most awesome pictures! Father and son together enjoying the company of the SB. Just like me and my father when I was still young! My father now is old and quite weak and he can't drive anymore! But we still talk of the happier days when we used to drive around with our trusty '68 bug! He is the reason why I am a VW buff now! He bought that '68 bug in 1982 and tt's still with my father! I was barely 14 years old back then and I was 12 years old back then! _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Thank you.
Some how, some way we all here have a connection to VWs. Mine like your's was made though my father. He bought his '72 in Germany when we were stationed there during his 20+ years in the Air Force. He got to bring it back to the states and I learned to drive with it. Special place in my heart for the Squares. I then purchased a '63 Bug, a '72 Super Beetle and then a '67 Ghia before moving away from VWs for a while. Glad I am back and now bringng my kids along. _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia

That is wonderful story. I have had lots of stories with my father in our trusty VWs. We drove our ol 1200cc '68 Bug going to Baguio City a very high and cold place here in the Philippines back then I was in High School. We were five in the Bug and I never missed a single beat! It was a fantastic driver! I was a teenager back then and was starting to get the VW into my system. I have 6 vws now and 2 more projects waiting to be restored! And our Fasty aka Sharkey 2 is a driver too. My father is truly a VW enthusiast by heart! Now he enjoys the other VW I have. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Thanks, Leo. Not as good as another one I've seen, but appreciate the sentiment! _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia
