I am getting ready for a short haul trip tomorrow up to Mount St Helens' Climber's Bivouac campground. Part of my family in the bus, with my brother-in-law and nephew along in a Vanagon Carat. Climbing that mountain starting at ~7 AM on Monday, Eclipse at 10:20, summit at 12ish?. Only 97% obscuration but what an amazing opportunity to view from above the landscape. Climbling limited to only 100 permits a day in the summer, so plenty of elbow room. Very Happy
Added bonus: possible Bigfoot sightings. He's crepuscular.

Central Oregon: wildfires, roads closed, but surprisingly light traffic right now.

Good luck all and safe travels. Xatie and I in the new bug we picked up in Cali having a blast. Trying to avoid traffic in the AM. Should any of you be interested in our road trip up to Oregon, it's here on page 6. Wish I had the bus. But this is fun too.

Got into Oregon about an hour ago and heading up to Bend. Wanted to take my dad on his first road trip in my bus, but not sure if a last minute push to the eclipse path was the best idea hah.

I know xevin said he was driving up from California - anyone else on their way through Oregon right now?

Departure in 15 min. Stopping along the way for greasy burgers and fries and possibly a beer. Good healthy mountain climbing food!

Narfro, that's a stout rack on your orange bus! You could put some lawn chairs a cooler and a canopy up top and hang out in the penthouse suite!

Drove down yesterday and saw no busses. Should of brought my last eclipse magnet to give to the first bus I saw.... which is none. If I see any of you in the Mt Pleasant area, I'll throw out a wave or maybe leave a note if I see your bus....

Do you still have any magnets? Our moderator "Brian" is on a trip in his bug to Central Oregon for the eclipse right now. I bet he would love it, but he's probably out of service at the moment.

Just one, but it's at home in CT. I did hear one of my magnets is up there and might be getting donated to another VWer though. I can always make more of them though, I just have to order the magnet roll. Oh and did you get my PM?

Checking in from Falls City, Nebraska.

Camping tonight in my grandpa's driveway. He recently moved to Lincoln to live with my aunt and uncle, so the house is empty and the AC has been off, so it's pretty stuffy and I'll be sleeping in the Bus. I just arrived a little bit ago, having driven up after a softball game. A lot more family should arrive tomorrow morning.

Turns out all the food establishments in the small towns closed down before I got to them tonight, so because I was starving, I ended up getting some pizza rolls and cooking them on the stove. With frequent stirring, they turned out decent. About as good as pizza rolls could be expected and better than if I had taken them inside and cooked in the microwave.

Though it is still kinda hot out, so I'll have to drink a few more beers to cool off and be able to sleep!

Just drove from Yahk, BC and just pulled in just above Maupin corner of 216 and 197. No one here. Kind of odd. Just a big pull out but it will surely fill up tomorrow. Sky is insane tonight. Hope to see a few buses tomorrow.

That's great to hear Lil' Lulu. The Coastal traffic was lighter then most weekends yesterday.

So, why couldn't they have done this on the weekend instead of on a weekday when people have school and work? Rolling Eyes
