I have an engine with #2614836 that I would like to use in an October 3, 1958 build car. I see that the engine numbers listed here on the Samba are 2567730 for last of September and 2624613 for last of October. Is there a way to determine which date the engine was actually built?

I don't think there is an exact way. If you get a birth certificate for the car it will tell you if the engine was original, but I don't think you can find out when it was built.
