I'm not familiar with that machine-turned finish on that piece near the floor in the last photo. Is that stock? |

Wow...kind words. Thanks to all you guys!!!
And "fazeka", the piece near the floor is known as "kick panel", and is used to cover the bottom of the rear seat or the side of the middle seat. Standard equipment on VW Standard Microbuses and Deluxes.

Hi, sounds reasonable. Not doubting its originality as a piece, it's just that the (what appears to be a) machine-turned finish/texture looks, I dunno, odd... granted I don't have a lot of barndoor experience... |

The machine turned kick panel trim is not barndoor specific, it was stock through 1958.
This is a lovely bus and I enjoy the updates, thank you for posting them and keep up the great work. |

Agreed. A grey on grey standard sunroof barndoor is pretty much the top of the list for me. _________________ nothing |

The original early kick panel trim was more of an embossed pattern than a machine turned surface treatment. This restoration has a really nice machine turned pattern to simulate the original, but it is a bit different.
Original "Snowflake" embossed pattern:

Thank you for clarifying this. I did think it odd VW would be using machine turned surface treatment in 1951. |
