OK,
I admit it when I do something stupid..
Or when I get beat.. For a while!
I'm still learning here - even all of these years later.
(Unlike some of you old farts here.. )
My bus with cam/exhaust/big valves always had a rough time at warm-up.
This is a known issue - the time between the AAR closing, and full warm, can be a bit inelegant.
My bus kept getting worse.
It did a rump-rump-rump-rump low speed rich idle thing,
And wanted to stall,
This led to stalling repeatedly (until warm -then it was fine)
This would simply not do!
So I finally got mad enough to dive in with both feet!
Did all the regular stuff - fuel filter, fuel pressure, test TTS, AAR, TSII, TSI Etc. Etc.
Even swapped out the whole ignition, checked valves, wideband, etc..
So I finally did what I learned in my career in IT - Throw hardware at the problem!
Swapped AAR, AFM, TSII.. Wait!
DingDingDingDing.. We have a winner!!!
TSII was only finger tight! If that..!
Who knows how it came loose - it's not load-bearing..
I was even tuning around this condition for god knows how long??
So, the take-home lesson.. Check that sucker!
It will read OK - even if you ground clear to the firewall like I do.
The pressure from your meter probe will cause the connection to be made correctly(!)
Even says in the Bentley Bible to use a deep-well socket on it, and not just a wrench..
Here I was being all nice to it, due to it's fine thread, and 'sensitive instrument' nature.
(Not to mention being precious now)
So,
Don't be like me!
Put the munch on that sucker,
Cause they can come loose!
Just thought I'd share..
Lesson learned. _________________ Bus Motor Build

Oh buddy not sure you remember me PMing you with a similar condition on Greta. The bus I got from RONIN10. But when Colin was here we worked on the TS2. That thing is whacky on Greta. Imagine it's half way in and you hit with a hammer sideways and never sat flush after. We tried and tried to seat it proper but just couldn't. Colin got the bus to need warm up one minute in driveway and then after 2 blocks idle stronger after 2 blocks (950-1000rpm.) Before it would take 10 to 15 min of drive time. If you recall I have a Webcam 107i. With oversized valves. Would you recommend I take it to a machinist to right the port for the TS2. Is there another port I can seat the TS2 in? Can give more details later. Thoughts? _________________ Keep on Busin'

Put some never seize on the threads of the TSII to prevent corrosion. |

Depending on the heads your are running, you may have the proper size hole for the TSII on the #2 cylinder. If you want to drill out and tap a new hole for the TSII the #4 cylinder is the easiest. |

Then you should have the threads on the right side of the engine too. Weather you have access to the hole through your tin is a different story…

Loosen the bolts holding the tin in place, force a wedge under the tine to hold it out from the head and a few seconds with a Dremel will take care of the opening in the tin. |

Yup... Drove me Nucking Futs..!
FWIW, Dielectric Grease is my choice of installation lube at this point.
And,
Yesindeedy, My move would be to just use the boss on the other side if faced with a stripped out sender hole.
Just add some length to the sender wire...
Best part about the whole thing, was that it tested good at least a half-dozen times.. _________________ Bus Motor Build
