It could be your distributor isn’t clocked right. You can rotate it 90 degrees, the move all your plug wires, the reset your timing. If you are really OCD, you don’t have to reset your timing, just check it. If you are extreme ocd, you don’t even check it, you know it’s right. _________________ .ssS! |

Thanks for the tips, guys.
I hadn’t thought of removing the distributor, but it makes sense.
And I had wondered if the dizzy could be rotated as you said, abs, so it’s good to know that’s an option too.
We were going to go camping this long weekend, but the campground didn’t open as planned. Instead, heading to visit friends but not in Chloe.
So the CSV install may have to wait a couple weeks.
Not sure if I mentioned it, but I’ve been driving Chloe for work every day, sometimes over 100 miles round trip. And she’s been working great! After working all day, it’s a highlight of the day to climb in her and drive home. And see the looks on people’s faces when they see her. And get lots of peace signs.
Gotta love it. _________________ -Kent-

Dang...
While working around Chloe this morning, I discovered this damage to the fiberglass top.
I had poked a hole in the luggage compartment in front a couple months ago which needs fixing.
But this is worse, and have no idea how or when it happened. _________________ -Kent-

This was a happy and sad weekend...
We left Friday morning to go camping at Abiquiu Lake in northwest New Mexico.
It was beautiful all weekend, with perfect daytime temps. That is the part.
The part is this probably being the last chance to camp until Spring.
Oh well, it was still a great weekend. The campground has been closed since early Spring, and just opened up on Oct. 1. And even then they were only allowing 50% of the spots to be rented, so it was very quiet and peaceful.
Here are a few of the pics taken during our time at the lake and at nearby Ghost Ranch...
(As you may have noticed, there aren't any pics of Abiquiu Lake.
That's because I couldn't get Chloe close enough to the water.) _________________ -Kent-

Love it. Look forward to some snow camp outs. “It’s a dry snow”

Don’t sweat that fiberglass aging. It’s the easiest stuff in the world to fix better than new. _________________ .ssS! |

Sambo and Xevin:
I'm a total wimp when it comes to cold weather. After living in the low desert for 20 years, anything under 50* requires lined jeans, wool socks, and many layers.
So now that I'm living in the high desert, it will be challenging this winter.
It's been decades since I've been in low winter temps.
Abs:
I agree. I've been watching YouTube videos on fiberglass repair, and it seems simple enough. It will make a good winter project. _________________ -Kent-

Great pictures!
Lots of fall still to go! It’s the nice around the fire when there’s a nip in the air, and the bugs thin out. Don’t you have a heater in there to stretch out the season another month? _________________ 1977 Sage Green Westy

Dang, you have a good memory!
Yes, I installed a diesel heater. But it has a problem with sending out smoke and fumes after it's been running about ten minutes or so. So that's another project to figure out what's going on.
The list of "To Do" projects never seem to get smaller, does it?
Finish one project, and a couple more pop up.
I'm just very glad that she's running and stopping very well. _________________ -Kent-

Bad news...
Buses By the Bridge 2021 has been cancelled, according to their Facebook post.
BBB XXV will occur in 2022 (hopefully). _________________ -Kent-

We had a great opportunity to travel up to Taos NM this weekend....
...to help deliver a transmission. Some of you may recognize the recipient...
But how did I get stuck cleaning it before it got installed?!?
We also got to help fellow Sambanistas, Wolfbus, with some of their issues...
Wolfbus is off to get painted this week, back to the original green.
It's going to look fantastic when it gets back in a couple months.
All new paint and new window seals.
It seems like it's been a long time since I've had a chance to hang out with fellow van/bus geeks, so it was a very productive and pleasurable weekend.
The 2-hour drive up to Taos ended up taking closer to 3 hours due to the beautiful NM scenery long the Rio Grande and the mountains.
On the way back, we drove over the Rio Grande Gorge bridge which is one of the highest bridges in the US. And I have terrible fear of heights, so it was momentous for me. But we drove to Taos on the east side of the river, and went home on the west side. So it added some variation, and got to see sights that were new to us.
Thanks to Nicole and Griffin for a great weekend and great food. Looking forward to seeing you guys while camping sometime.
And I hope Robbie makes it back home safely with the new transmission. _________________ -Kent-

Glad you could be the bearer of a mystery transmission and help out Robbie and Wolfbus. Nice to have a Robbie sighting.

I've hit a milestone!!!
...and it didn't cause any damage.
In the four+ years I have been owned by Chloe, 60,000 miles have been clocked!
Considering the first 4 months were non-functioning due to engine mods, that's a lot of miles for me. In 2000, I bought a new SUV and put 205,000 miles on it in the 20 years I had it.
Unfortunately, it means it's time for new tires. The Hankook Vantras have held up great, so probably go for another set.
As a crazy side note, it appears Discount Tires ($110 ea) is cheaper than Amazon ($128 ea). Previously, Amazon had them for half that price.
(MalWart has them for $80, but I detest that chain.) Discount typically meets the price of competitors, though. _________________ -Kent-

Haven't been traveling much this winter, but did manage to go to a nature reserve a ways south of Albuquerque...
Didn't go camping though since waking up to 30* temps isn't my cuppa.
New Mexico is great at saving open spaces along the Rio Grande for migrating birds and natural habitat. There were hundreds of herons at the reserve, while most of the geese and ducks seems to have already made their way to warmer, southern climes. _________________ -Kent-

I did a headliner on my split when I lived in Mt Shasta when as the paint was drying - the dog walked across it leaving a perfect set of prints. Looked great so I installed the liner as is.
Next time Laurene got in she said " How did you get the dog to do that?"
Not one to miss an opportunity- I said "I held her upside down and forced her to walk across it" well it was fun at the time, but I paid for that remark. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.
